How personal grooming assistance helped Georgina with her confidence
Georgina’s husband had recently been diagnosed with cancer and she already had health issues of her own. Georgina who is 77, was struggling to look after herself and her husband, and began to spend more and more time at home which led to her feeling a little depressed and isolated.
After discussing her needs at home, we arranged for some personal care as part of her home care plan. We now assist her to shower and dress, we style her hair and help her with her make up. Her medical condition causes ulcers in her legs, so we check and assess her legs and ensure she is wearing the right tights or medical socks for protection and support.
Since St Louis carers have started providing personal care, Georgina has been happier more confident in herself and now wants to go out more and maintain her interests in the community. Her friends and family are relieved and have commented on how much better she now is.
Realising how much of a change a Home Care Package has made for Georgina, the family has also started the process of getting a Home Care Package for her husband. They realise how home care support maintains their independence around the home and their goal is to be able to go out and do things together for as long as possible.
