Thinking About Home Care

Are you finding it more difficult to do things around your home?

Have you had changes in your health or a recent hospital visit?

Are you having treatment, or a hospital visit for a medical condition soon?

You no longer have your driver’s licence or no longer drive your own car and looking for some help to get to the supermarket and to get to appointments?

Would like to live at home and want to ensure that the care provided meets your choices, needs, and expectations?

As we get older, we may need some additional support to remain living at home safely. While it may be difficult to plan for exactly when you will need some support at home, it is a good idea to be aware of what is available and how you would like to be cared for. Having a plan and informing your loved ones or people around you about your expectations ensures you maintain your independence and dignity just the way you would like to live and age well.

The process of getting a home care package can take up to 6 months. Home care packages support your independence and safety to live at home so when there are changes in health, energy levels – when you are feeling tired during the day and not getting general daily activities or personal care done easily, sometimes to keep your balance you hold onto furniture to move, you can’t move as fast or as easily, you don’t feel as strong and things you could do are becoming more challenging, you don’t feel the same – sometimes everything is overwhelming and you don’t know why, sometimes you can’t remember why or how you do things, or you have not done your shopping or daily activities because you don’t have a drivers licence or car anymore, it may be time to start the process by registering with my aged care. With the right support, while you live at home, you can maintain your independence, health, safety, and daily and social activities.
